day 87: mail call

Military 30-Day Photo Challenge Day 11: Post a pic of the stationery you use to write letters to your Marine while he's deployed

uh......I think this topic is a tad bit outdated.

These are the two notes ASC has sent to me since this whole shebang started. While I have no trademark stationery for my notes (any card, note book paper, etc. will do), I suppose he has more of an expected paper product to send his notes home on.

These handmade cards were put together by a friend of mine, and she gave them to ASC for just this reason.

Even though texts and emails are quicker and easier, we do try to send notes to each other the good ole' fashioned way. Except mail is incredibly s-l-o-w. One card I sent him, months ago, has yet to arrive . Packages tend to take about 2 weeks now, and the last one I sent cost me about $18.00 just to ship it....and it wasn't too big or too heavy. What I pack inside those boxes has changed, though, from deployment to deployment. The first time he needed every possible item essential to getting by and having some degree of comfort. New socks. Deodorant. Hand sanitizer. Baby wipes (for the closest thing to a shower that he could get). The second time, it was more of snack foods and treats that he couldn't easily find on his own. This time, it's mostly things the girls' make for him and one or two snacks that he's requested and not much else. When the man can buy an xbox right there on base in the midst of a war, one can easily hope that he'd be able to get all the snack foods he wants, too :)
