day 78: craziness
Day 2 Military Photo Challenge: post a pic of you and your Marine doing something crazy
(there are no rules here, right? so I'm posting two, because I don't have a good one that's got both of us in it together.)
Crazy #1 - Admittedly, this may not appear too crazy. But the story behind it is....a few years ago, just Aaron and I went to Chicago for our anniversary. And there just happened to be a Cabella's store en route to home. We spent a couple hours there (which does seem crazy unless you've been in a Cabella's). To Aaron's delight, there were so many items under one roof just draped with a camo pattern.....like this recliner. I saw him sitting down to try it out (and actually, it wasn't the only of its kind there), and then next time I looked at him, he was fake sleeping. Crazy, I tell ya. (also love how his camo shorts sorta blend into the camo chair - ha!)
Crazy #2 - Also on our Chicago excursion, we had tickets to see the Blue Man Group perform. Oh my goodness was that an experience like none other. We got there with about 20 minutes to spare before the show started, Aaron got a drink, and we headed to our seats.....the first row behind all the crazies who had to sit with ponchos on so they wouldn't get drenched during the show. The moment we sat down, a show staff member made a beeline for us. Uh-oh. Were we in trouble for bringing that drink into the theatre? "You two look like the kind of people who'd like to volunteer to help out with something special during the show," she said.
Aaron started with, "Uhh......I don't think....." but I quickly put my foot down.
"We'd love to help!"
Seize the moment, right? I wasn't going to let this chance pass us by. Except as the staff member led us to some temporary seats at the very top of the theatre, I was the one who became quite anxious. What exactly had I signed us up for? They wouldn't tell us anything. Only divulged that we'd watch about the first 5 minutes of the show, someone would come and get us, lead us out of the theatre, and then we'd simply walk back down to our seats. Sounded simple, blameless.....and too simple and blameless.
Show started, we sneaked out and exited, then re-entered, being led back to our original seats by a staff member.....with no need for a flash light in the dark theatre because every single spotlight in the auditorium was on us, and screens at the front of the theatre posted signs like "welcome the latecomers" and "way to be on time", etc. They scripted it in such a way to be believable. People nearby us even shook their heads in disgust. How embarrassingly fun!
Other than the crazy memory and this pic at the end, you bet I got my free, souvenir t-shirt. Because no experience is complete without the t-shirt.
