day 84:fav pic of the "D" word

Military Photo Challenge Day 8: post your favorite deployment pic and explain why it's your favorite
(is it surprising that I'm not choosing just one?)

This was an awfully good memory of ASC's last deployment....but it was a bittersweet one. With the help of the USO, he was able to pick a brand new children's book and be videoed while he read the book aloud. The USO then mailed to us the book and the DVD, so the girls could have story time with Daddy reading to them. This was the first DVD we got in the mail, and the younger two couldn't quite understand why they saw Daddy on the tv....and that he was not really in our living room.

There is nothing like a homecoming. I'm sure I'll blog more about that later.....this was on 21 March 2009 when Aaron arrived back from his second deployment to Iraq. If I would've let them, the girls would've ran out onto White River Parkway to meet the van that held their Daddy inside. Instead, I made them wait until the van had come to a full and complete stop....and nothing at that point could've held them back.

This still makes me laugh hysterically. On the way to Iraq in '08, ASC and his buddy Ash had their other buddy snap this pic on some cargo plane en route. It was one of the first pics I had of ASC out of the country, so I printed it off and taped it on the frig. A few days later, as I went to the frig for some milk, I found the new version of the pic, as what you see above. Miss K had decided to dress up Daddy and Ash with her magnetic doll dress up set. Perfect!
