day 164: E.T.
Daddy, we missed you tonight.
We had a night that you would've loved.
Kennedy went home with a friend.
Sleepover time....and you know what that means.
Two kids left. Which means there are no fights.
Pure bliss (well, almost bliss).
The two left behind were in complete control of the evening.
Stop #1: ice cream. The chocolate and vanilla twist kind from Frostbite.
Stop #2: Wendy's for supper.
Stop #3: the video store for E.T.
You see, McK has long since been attached to Aaron's very old stuffed E.T. For the past few weeks, even, he's gone with us almost everywhere. And she's long since been on my case to let her see the movie. And I've really meant to before now. But busy is as busy does, and it hadn't happened yet. Till tonight.
I cannot remember the last time I went in a video store to rent a movie. It almost seemed archaic, thanks to Netflix and red kiosks. I wasn't even sure if that was on DVD. But we found it.....and to make it even better, it was only 99 cents. But wait - it got even better, and you know how I love a good deal. Just $4.99 got us unlimited kids' movie rentals for a month. Now that puts those red kiosks to shame.
At the checkout, the girls spotted something we couldn't leave without. Something that would make the E.T. viewing completely complete. When the E.T. obsession first began, I told them of his most favorite snack. Needless to say, it also went home with us.
