jinxed

I think I jinxed myself.
Guess who was sick last night with the flu?
I was feeling quite awful after lunch (you know I don't feel well if I can't quite stomach the Panera I had run out to get on my lunch hour), but I couldn't stand to take a half day off from school (that I don't even have left to take) for just 2 hours of classes. I stuck it out. Then I had my doctor's appointment with my surgeon when I really wanted to go home, but I didn't want to have to reschedule it, so off we went.
On the way home, I knew there was no way I'd be making the girls supper, so I stopped at McD's. Bad call. The fumes wafting into my car through the drive-thru were incredibly nauseating; I wonder how weird the workers thought I was as I kept my coat sleeve over my nose as I grabbed the Happy Meal bags from them.
When we got home, I changed into comfy clothes, threw two warm blankets over me, and crashed on the couch. The girls did fairly well at fending for themselves, and K was a huge help. (Oh, that was after I had to run outside to repair the electric fence the dog decided to try and chew up. Dumb dog....that I love.)
Have you ever taken for granted a spouse being with you to take care of you/your household/your children when you are sick? Don't.
ASC called, and K woke me up to talk to him. He could hear how bad off I was, and he asked more than once if he should call someone over to help me. I was fine (read: stubborn as normal). He asked if I knew that it was way past the girls' bedtime.....I didn't. I had been in a fever-induced sleep.
Luckily I slept it all off during the night and woke up feeling better, except for that overall feeling of being hit by a train.
Why do all bad things in general have to happen while my husband is gone???
