day 4: donuts and Guitar Hero
McK has already made plans for when Daddy gets home.
This morning, she was the first one to come and pounce on me in my bed. It was 8:30, and time for me to get up and moving anyways. But my eyes were still closed, so she firmly planted a wet kiss on my cheek, then giggled. True to her style, she then started talking a mile a minute, about a zillion different things. When she finally took a breath, I asked her if she wanted a breakfast of eggs, hashbrowns, and pancakes or homemade donuts.
She replied, "You mean the kind of donuts you used to make on Saturday mornings when we'd get them all ready and then wake Daddy up, and then he'd eat a bunch of them and want a big glass of milk and then he'd play Guitar Hero so we could dance? Yes, I want those!"
I honestly think this exact chain of events happened as described just once, but obviously it's a favorite of hers. And the thing you cannot quite appreciate without hearing her say it is that instead of saying "guitar", she says "katar", like the middle eastern country Qatar, which always makes ASC and I laugh hysterically.
I rolled out of bed, and by that time, R was in my bathroom, washing her face. I could hear McK informing her of what I was going to make for breakfast, did she remember when I'd make that and Daddy would eat a lot and then he'd play "Katar" Hero? "Reagan, I'm going to ask Daddy to do all that when he gets home."
Reagan's muffled voice filtered out through the washcloth. "I think he'll be a little tired when he finally gets home. You might need to let him chill out on the couch for a few minutes first."
Oh, for Saturday mornings of making donuts for a family of 5 and a husband at home to sit on our couch.....
