day 118: skype, I love you

February 22nd was the last time I saw my husband.
For our girls, it was January 18th.

But today, we kind of saw him. Gotta love Skype.

So the video was grainy, and the connection wasn't the best.

But simply seeing him in a real-time video....how's the best way to describe it? Cause you don't know what it's like until you've been there before. It's like putting a salve on a deep wound. Like the sunshine finally popping through the clouds in the darkest of winter days. Like hearing a person's infectious laugh in a crowd of people, and you smile, too, in spite of yourself, just because it feels that smiling is the best thing to do. I think we were all smiles today, in spite of ourselves.

(p.s. To my wonderful husband Aaron: I do wish you'd come home soon. For many reasons, but especially today, I do wish that you'd be home to receive some of the pay back due to you for being such a pest yourself as a young child. For your delightful youngest daughter locked me and our oldest daughter out of the house this morning. In the over-100 heat index sun and blanketing humidity. And as we pounded on the door, we heard her giggling inside. So please hurry home and deal with that child, because apparently, I cannot get through to her.)
