186: a letter

Dear Husband -
I am writing you this letter to inform you about what you cannot see from roughly 7000 miles away. The first thing would be the hole in the fence, created by your favorite husky. You couldn't hear the doorbell ringing quite early this morning by a helpful neighbor, nor me grumbling that the dog got loose. (poor neighbor, though, got to see me corral the dog while still in my pjs. yikes.) You couldn't see my irritation upon discovering that the dog's electric collar battery was dead, nor do you know how often I actually do check that. And then, subsequently, you didn't see the trip I made to Menards for new fence slats, me rummaging through the garage for the tools I needed, and then your friend Bryan, who pulled off the broken boards and replaced them, and was happy to help. You also didn't see the text from your friend Keith (via his wife) who also offered to come over and help.
You've not felt your ankles covered in deep water while taking a shower, thanks to the unresponsive-to-Drano clog in our shower drain. What you didn't see then was Bryan, shop vac in hand, clear the clog. Then, a few feet away, was the sink with a broken stopper. Your friend Bryan made his own trip to Menards today, just for that. The sink is fixed.
You didn't see four sets of hands pulling weeds in the backyard. We filled two bags with them. (How can weeds grow but not grass?)
I know when I tell you of these things, you get irritated. And stressed. And I know, deep down, you must wonder how well a wife can take care of such things in your absence. Luckily, your wife is not much of a complainer. She takes what happens, buckles down, and gets it done.
Do you see how much she wants to make sure that you don't have to worry about taking care of fixing a single thing once you get home? Do you see how willing your friends are to help?
She sure hopes so.
Love,
the Wife
