day 35: miss adventurous
So....if you're a faithful, loyal fan, you'd have noticed a few days back that I mentioned some different plans for us this Easter. Definitely not the norm. Crazy, actually.
I didn't want to say too much preemptively, but now that it's official....
The girls and I have been invited to participate in the Easter Egg Roll at the White House.
Wow! That's just about all I can say.
And since I didn't get the official word until this afternoon, I couldn't do a whole lot in the way of preparing. Flying by the seat of your pants is a bit overrated, you know.
Remember that monstrous to-do list also mentioned a few days back? Yeah, it's grown. Exponentially.
Tonight I realized, in the midst of me furiously scribbling things on that list, that if we're going to do some of the "normal" Easter traditions, I'd better get moving on them.
So needless to say, our egg decorating wasn't too elaborate this year.
But the girls had fun, which is what counts. (We can ignore the two spilled containers of egg dye that I mopped off the floor and the stressed, irritated huffing and puffing that I did. We can also ignore the fact that two of the three girls are, at 10:04, still wide awake in their beds and that tomorrow morning may be a little rocky.)
I am beside myself with excitement.
I told the girls this afternoon, once I learned we were good to go.
Even though they can't possibly understand the significance of this, they're excited, too.
McK was the first to respond. "Mommy, I think I'm really gonna like this!"
R then said, "Mom, that knocks my shoes off!"
This is, without a doubt, one Easter we'll have a hard time forgetting.
You may think me crazy for being so adventurous and spur of the moment.
I think I'd be crazy to let it pass me by.
