day 25: a thousand miles
I have to be careful lately listening to my iPod.
Many of the songs on my iTunes are ones I share with Aaron.
So naturally, the wrong song comes on shuffle at the wrong time, and I'm driving with tears in my eyes.
Yesterday morning, driving to school, a song came on that I hadn't heard in ages.
One of those songs that, the instant you hear it, it takes you back to a certain time and place.
This was the song -" A Thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton
It was released in 2002, and I had heard it on the radio many times before Aaron left on his first deployment to Iraq--or ever--in 2003.
But it took just one time listening to those lyrics after he was gone that year for it to take on a whole different meaning for me.
Lyrics that still ring true. Today.
Except to be more precise, I suppose I should re-title it "7083 miles" (approximately), but I fear that doesn't quite have the ring that the original title does.
