a much-needed arrival
It's 7:30.
Coffee full of cream and sugar is within arm's reach.
A child on the couch next to me is chugging chocolate milk while draped in her falling-apart blankie.
(apparently she didn't get the memo that sleeping in is now expected)
A pirate cartoon is what's showing on the tv.
Footsteps.....another child who's not sleeping in.
Yet I'm still in my pjs.
Ah, summer. So glad to see you've returned.
Before us sits that age-old question:
"What are we going to do today?"
There are lists, you know.
(where would I ever be without lists?)
Yesterday we put crayon to paper and concocted our 2nd annual summer to-do list.
A few tweaks are needed, though, until it goes public.
But like any other summer, there are a bajillion things to want to do, to need to do.
There are the more pressing items.....
like finishing a house
selling a house,
like moving into a house
creating 2 months of maternity leave sub plans
and like having a baby.
There are the more mundane things....
like grocery shopping
check depositing
weed pulling
and like house cleaning.
There are the kid-deemed necessities....
like watching cartoons
trekking to the library
throwing water balloons
and like playing pla-doh.
What are we going to do today?
