I've always wanted four

Ever since I was a little girl, I had told people that when I grew up to be a mommy, I'd have four kids.
And while I'm not too sure that I'm completely grown up yet, I am having four.
(right here, you can close your eyes and imagine the ultrasound picture that Blogger is refusing to upload correctly)

I think we just might be crazy.
Aaron keeps (somewhat jokingly) saying, "Maybe we should've just gotten another dog."

But, for the record, #4 was his idea.
Not that I didn't agree.....you see, #2 and #3 were really close to each other in the time span. Just 9 months old, we learned that #2 was going to be a big sister. Surprise, surprise. I was thrown into the busy-ness of a four-year old, an 18-month old, and a newborn baby. To say that I was enjoying every stage and moment back then was an understatement. And yet, I knew that Aaron was done. That the three were it. So I accepted it.

Then he changed his mind.
And came home in October.
And guess how far along I am?

We'll have yet another July birthday in the family. The planner in me would like to perfectly plan that birthday around #1's bday and #3's bday and the family wedding we'll be attending. And she'd also like the baby to be born on a Wednesday, since all the others were (weird, right?). And yet she also knows how uncomfortable a pregnancy in mid-July can be, when she's about full-term. This planner is in a lurch, already. Knowing that she can, this time, pick the baby's bday isn't as fun as it sounds.

You see, #1 was born in just 4 hours. Four hours, start to finish. And, for the record, without meds. The nurses told me that I'd have plenty of time for my epidural....and then, before they knew it, I'd had a baby. Three hours was all it took for #2. And then two hours for #3. Are you surprised to learn that I'm a tad bit anxious about this next one arriving at home, or in the car? Cause I am. So this time, an induction is needed.

Everybody wants to know if we'll continue our naming trend.
(sarcastically, I want to respond that no, we're going with President's names for the first three and will name the fourth one something routine, like Sarah. really?)
We never started that trend on purpose.
Kennedy was a name we had heard and loved instantly.
Reagan was a name I had really liked (secretly from my fav Shakespeare text - Regan was King Lear's daughter)
McKinley was decided upon a few hours after she was born. She was either a Madison or a McKinley, and we decided upon the latter, knowing at that point that we had to continue what we'd started.
It wasn't until after McK was named that Aaron told me what we had done: not only did we choose all President's names, but all Presidents that had been shot at.

So one would think that, if it's a boy, we need to pick Lincoln.
(actually, my students think I should go with Garfield)
But we've had a boy's name chosen for about 9 years now, and haven't been able to use it (even though I have grown rather partial to Lincoln).
For the girls.....well, we're down to three choices.
Carter
Taylor
Madison
Don't ask me yet which one we're using.
I don't know yet, and we've got a little ways to go before then.
Even though I don't look like it
(once you get to your fourth, you're wearing maternity clothes before you even think of peeing on that stick. it's true)

  1. Heidi, how precious to hear you blogging again! All the names are beautiful and I am sure will fit a beautiful daughter! However, I think it would be fun for a little boy to mix up the Conger world!
